The Story.

The Story.

Why do we live the same stories?

We are one, and yet not
Waking up to the same days,
that are just as old as yesterday
Sleeping into the same nights,
just as blue as the moon light
Living life on a loop,
Tapping to the beats of the same dance
Only with different people at different times
Tell me, why do we live the same stories?

“What’s your story?”
          – they ask you.
My story is one that cannot be stringed into words
It exists in me
And it shall die with me
But my story is the same as yours
A story weaved by the same raconteur
Of dreams and desires, that fall into an abyss
Of dirt and dust, that grow into a flower
Always walking to the same destination,
With paths that entangle and untangle
My story is shared by everyone around me
And by everyone who surrounds those around me

My story is one of grief, and love
Where for two and forty hours, I sleep into light only to wake up to the dark

My story is one of happiness, and woes
Where I survive in the forests, only to return back to the Earth

My story is one of hurt, and desire
Where I sing through the desserts, only to wash away my pain by the sands

My story is one of peace, and war
Where I steal my books, only to have them burnt by the end

My story is one of hope, and pain
Where I run for the kites, only to touch the skies with my fingers

My story is one of devastation, and bliss
Where I chase the clouds, only to come chasing for myself

My story is not one that can be stringed into words
For it lives in you as much as it lives in me

Why do you and I live the same stories,
when all we ever shared was the air?
Why do you and I live the same stories,
when all we ever had was to disappear?

Tell me, why do we keep living the same stories?
The same life on a loop?
Tapping to the beats of the same dance
Only with different people at different times

  1. I think the freedom of designing new design within a given stencil makes the designing fun…
The endless possibilities of how we can turn our story makes it gripping…
Hence, even though our story line is same, the story isn’t..

    Very well written!!!
This one shows how good an observer you are.
    Keep it up!

  2. This is single handedly the best poetic piece I’ve ever read. The way you described the books in little more than a sentence is frankly remarkable. If someone has read those books, they’ll catch onto the reference easily. And the entirety of this… God’s I’m not coherent enough to appreciate it properly. Just know that this is: relatable, comforting, beautifully tragic, thought provoking and absolutely brilliant. I’m so so so proud of you!!! Go Xixioxi!! ????

    1. Thank you!
By the same story I mean that each last one of us shares the same life story, in some way or another. We may begin at different times, but our stories always take the same old paths; and we always end the same way. What happens in the middle may or may not be same, but it will always be a story that others before you have lived too. Your story is mine as much as it is yours, and my story is as much yours as it is mine. 🙂

  3. The poem is crafted beautifully. I appreciate your work and hope you will keep it up. The concept of the poem is deep. I like the way you started your poem with just a question and ended up opening a whole of the universe of answers for us. I regret that I have not read most of the books that you used to write this poem and I admit that I don’t understand some parts of this work, but I can really relate to your poem, and that’s what I like about any work. The most compelling piece was the question “Why do you and I share the same stories”. I mean it, from the bottom of my heart, that your poem literally is beautiful, and has encouraged me now to start writing one of my own

    1. Wow, that is beautiful. Would love to connect and hopefully read some of your work too.
Thank you for your engagement and encouragement!

  4. This analogically relates to roads that starts with and ends with the same…but just a creditable difference within us takes through different journeys..when rains are same but not the feel..when soils are same but not the aura….when airs are same but not the winds…
Thanks you so much for writing in such a way that it simply connets us to nature’s authenticity…
